BFF 50 - Your Signature - das Bleibt

The photographic works by 100 BFF members provide an excellent overview of the variety of content and the homogeneous quality of the works that were created in the BFF series. Photography as a rebellion against transience, the moment for eternity against erosion and wear and tear, inflation and business cycles, fashions and trends, age and (re)birth. Images for which there is no tomorrow, no today and no yesterday - images that remain.

parallels || Abstract painting >> meets >> KAGE Science Art

The innermost of the world

In 1945, Ottomar and Greta Domnick saw something new represented in the abstract paintings: namely, capturing reality in which life and human existence in their becoming and changing are in the foreground. They would have liked to peel off the film to see what's behind it, writes Ottomar Domnick.

The painter Fritz Winter also wrote that when painting, it is not important to show what is there, but to reveal what is there, because it is far more visible than we can see and far more audible than we can hear , and far more there than we are ourselves.

This is the reason for us to contrast the microphotographs by Manfred P. Kage with the abstract images. Manfred P. Kage, renowned artist and pioneer of professional micrography since the 1950s, inventor of "Science Art" and member of the ZERO group, shows in his photographs matter that is physical and yet invisible to the eye. Here we see parallels to abstract painting.

The laudatory speech at the vernissage will be given by Christian Gögger (Art Association Esslingen – Villa Merkel).

GLOBALE EXO-EVOLUTION

ZKM Karlsruhe - 30.10.2015 - 28.02.2016

Peter Weibel "The industrial revolution was known to be machine-based. From the steam engine to the car and film projector, it was dominated by a technology that was based primarily on the technical principle of the wheel. These machines were on the one hand accelerators, but as artificial tools they took over in improved form Form also the tasks of the natural organs: What the leg could not do, the wheel did, what the eye could not do, the telescope did, what the voice could not do, the mega- and microphone. The machine-based industrial revolution and the information-based post-industrial revolution form the technical prerequisites for a development that can be summed up with the term "exo-evolution".
